What We Believe
“We are a church that seeks truth, lives truth, and teaches truth.”
Our doctrinal beliefs are rooted in the Word of God. The following statements reflect the core convictions that shape our worship, discipleship, and community life at Abiding Life Fellowship.
Salvation by Grace Through Faith
Salvation comes by repentance and faith in the Lord Jesus Christ — not by human works or personal merit. It is by grace alone that we are saved. Jesus Christ, the only begotten Son of God, was born of the virgin Mary, God manifest in the flesh, who died for our sins and rose again.
Ephesians 2:8–9 • Romans 10:9–10The New Birth
The new birth is a new creation from above — the direct operation of the Word of God and the Spirit of God upon the believer’s life. It is a complete transformation of the inner person, not merely a moral reformation, but a genuine change of nature wrought by God Himself.
John 3:3–8 • 2 Corinthians 5:17Water Baptism
Baptism in water is an act of obedience and a public declaration to the world that the believer has died with Christ and has been raised with Him to walk in newness of life. It is an outward sign of an inward work of grace already received.
Romans 6:3–4 • Matthew 28:19The Baptism of the Holy Spirit
The baptism of the Holy Spirit is a gracious gift of God freely given to every believer subsequent to salvation. This empowerment of the Spirit equips and enables the believer to be an effective witness for Christ, boldly fulfilling the mandate of the Great Commission. The Holy Spirit also bestows spiritual gifts upon the church for its edification and ministry.
Acts 1:8 • Acts 2:38–39 • Matthew 28:18–20Divine Healing
We believe in living in divine health. Healing and salvation are inseparably linked — both were purchased by the shed blood of Jesus Christ at Calvary. We practice prayer for the sick with the anointing of oil, trusting in the promise that the prayer of faith shall restore the sick and the Lord shall raise them up.
James 5:14–15 • Isaiah 53:5 • 1 Peter 2:24The Body of Christ
The Church — the body of Christ — transcends denominational boundaries. It is composed of all blood-washed believers who have placed their faith in Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord. We are one in Him, called together to build one another up and to proclaim His gospel to the world.
Ephesians 4:4–6 • 1 Corinthians 12:13Marriage
We affirm the biblical definition of marriage as the sacred, covenant union established by God between one man and one woman. This union is a reflection of the relationship between Christ and His church, and is to be honored and upheld within the community of faith.
Genesis 2:24 • Matthew 19:4–6 • Ephesians 5:31–32Godly Authority & Submission
We believe in the biblical call to loyalty and humble submission to those placed in authority over us in the Lord. Scripture commands us to honor and respect spiritual leadership as an act of obedience to God, recognizing that He works through ordered relationships within the body of Christ.
Hebrews 13:17 • Romans 13:1 • 1 Peter 5:5
